Temporary Car Import Permit to Iran for Dual Citizens
If you hold Iranian citizenship along with another nationality and live abroad, and you plan to travel to Iran temporarily with your foreign-registered personal vehicle, we may assist you in obtaining a temporary vehicle entry permit.
Normally, entering Iran with a foreign vehicle requires obtaining a Carnet de Passages, which can be costly and often requires a financial guarantee of up to three times the vehicle’s value.
Through coordination with Iranian Customs authorities, Iran Tourism Center may assist eligible applicants in obtaining a temporary vehicle import permit for Iran.

Required Documents
Please prepare the following:
- Passport and driver’s license
- Vehicle registration documents
- Photos of the vehicle
- Planned entry date
- Entry border crossing point
- Intended duration of stay in Iran
- Planned exit border crossing point
How the Process Works
1. Submit Your Documents
Send us the required documents for initial review.
2. Customs Review & Cost Estimation
We submit your information to Iranian Customs to verify eligibility and estimate applicable fees.
3. Receive Your Quote
You will receive the estimated cost for your temporary entry permit.
4. Advance Payment
If you agree to proceed, an advance payment of approximately 10% is required online to begin the process.
5. Permit Issuance
The permit application process starts after payment confirmation.
Processing usually takes around one week (excluding public holidays). To avoid delays, we strongly recommend contacting us at least one month before your planned travel date.

Financial Guarantee Requirement
Applicants are generally required to provide a guarantee cheque payable to Iranian Customs, which will be handed to our designated representative.
Once the vehicle exits Iran and customs procedures are completed, the guarantee cheque is returned to the owner.
The guarantee amount is determined by Customs and may reach approximately three times the vehicle’s estimated value in Iran.
How Are Costs Calculated?
Permit fees vary depending on several factors, including:
- Vehicle brand
- Vehicle model
- Engine size
- Fuel type
- Length of stay in Iran
- Current customs regulations and restrictions
As a general estimate, the cost for a standard vehicle staying in Iran for around one month may start from approximately €900.
