Iran Airport: One of the most important thing in every country is transportation. Airports play a vital role in transportation all around the world.

Here in Iran, we have 319 airports which made Iran the twenty-second country in the world with most airports. Some of them are international airports and handle international flights all around the world and some of them are for domestic flights inside the country.

There are 13 international airports in Iran. They are situated in these cities below: Abadan, Ahwaz,  Bandar Abbas, Isfahan, Kerman, Kish, Mashhad, Shiraz, Tabriz, Tehran, Orumieh and Zahedan. You can choose each of them according to your Itinerary and fly back to your country from that city.

As you know Tehran is the capital of Iran, there are two main airports in capital: one of them is for the international flight which is called Imam Khomeini International airport (IKIA) and also it is one of our main and important airport in the country and the other one which is called Mehrabad that serves all the domestic flights and also serves some international flights inside the city boundaries.

Time management

According to the time of your flight and the distance of the airport to the city for the international flights you should be there 3 hours earlier and for the domestic flights 2 hours’ before your flight.

Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA)

Imam Khomeini International Airport is the main international airport in Tehran, Iran and also one of the busiest airports in the middle east. The airport serves all the international flights and it is located 30 KM southwest of Tehran city center.

Facilities and services

Banks and ATM services, currency exchange, phone, emergency lounge, prayer rooms, duty-free shops (No alcohol), coffee shops, a restaurant with traditional Iranian food, mobile charger, free Wi-Fi and also a hotel near the airport (Novotel) and others.

Transport

Bus: minivans links Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport to nearest Metro station (Shahre Aftab).

Taxi: Tehran city center can be reached from the airport within 45 minutes. The taxi cab area is outside arrivals.

Car rental: rent your car prior to your arrival at Tehran airport.

The airport is not provided with lost and found office or services, please for any item lost, get in contact with airport police.

Tehran airport currently serves as a hub for Iran Air, Mahan Air, and it is also a home base of Meraj Airlines, Qeshm Airlines, Iran Aseman Airlines, Zagros Airlines, and Taban Airlines.
